Six Places to Eat Al Fresco

As more and more restaurants open up their patios for service, we thought we'd share a few of our favorites for al fresco dining. Most places require reservations so please be sure to check with individual restaurants regarding hours and reservations. If you don't feel safe - they still offer take-out and/or delivery services as well!

Capital Ale House

All of Capital Ale House’s locations boast patios but our personal favorite is the downtown location. Its outdoor Biergarten sits in an enclosed courtyard on the lower level, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Narwhals Rolled Ice Cream

Ok, so technically they may not have a patio, per se, this deliciously refreshing rolled ice cream treat can easily be enjoyed while strolling through Carytown - which could be Richmond's largest patio?

Bookbinders Seafood & Steakhouse (Pictured above)

Nestled amidst the ruins of an old tobacco warehouse on historic Tobacco Row, the whimsical setting of Bookbinders is perfect for a patio date with your significant other or the girls. When they opened the patio up following COVID-19 they added beautiful lights and tents so that you can enjoy the patio in rain or shine.

Pizza & Beer of Richmond (PBR)

This expansive laid back patio just off of Cary Street serves up two of the greatest necessities in life: pizza and beer. And don’t forget your favorite fur friend, he’s more than welcome here.

Red Salt Chophouse & Sushi

For the city feel without leaving the ‘burbs head to Red Salt Chophouse & Sushi. Located in Short Pump’s newest enclave, GreenGate, Red Salt features a chic patio setting – complete with fans for those Richmond summers.

Tazza Kitchen

All of Tazza's Richmond-area locations have patios that are now open and each one is unique. Whether you choose the Scott's Addition patio overlooking the vibrant revitalized district, or dining among the foliage and bistro lights at Short Pump, we're pretty sure you can't go wrong.
