Meet a Business: Naborforce

Meet a Business is a series featuring the person behind some of your favorite locally-owned businesses.
What is your name?
Paige Wilson

What's your hometown?
Richmond, VA

What is your business name?
How many years have you owned/managed your business?

What is the most popular item you sell?
We spread JOY to older adults!!

What local business can you not live without?
McDonald's for the $1 large Diet Coke (seriously)

In what ways has your business changed since COVID-19?
COVID-19 has highlighted the importance of social connection. We see it every day -- older folks need connection, and so do the Nabors. It's the essence of humanity.

What's the first thing you do every morning to set the tone for your day?
Caffeinate!! Then catch up on reading and responding to any emails left from the day before.

What tool, object, or ritual could you not live without in your workday?

How did you come up with the name for your business?
We are drawing on the strength of community. Neighbors as our laborforce, hence Naborforce!

How did you get the idea for your business?
When my 78 year old mom broke her hip, I found that there was a void of assistance between independence and medical care. We just needed "another me." That's what Naborforce provides, almost like a son or daughter on-demand. (More on website)

What does the world need more of?

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
To bring out the best in people. It's something I work on all the time, but still trying...

What's your favorite thing to do in Richmond when you're not in your business?
Walking my dog, Daisy, around the Fan and/or eating at all of the awesome restaurants in town.

What's your hidden talent?
My intuition is very strong -- sometimes too much, because I almost feel like I can see the future which is not always a good thing!

What was the first concert you ever attended?
Helen Reddy, "I am woman hear me roar!" (hahaha)
What do you love most about Richmond?
I love that we have so many neighborhoods, each with it own personality. Lots of big cities tear down the history and feel like one big strip mall. We have so many authentic and edgy places.

What's the best thing about being a local business owner?
Feel like I am making a difference in the community. I was born and raised in Richmond so excited to have the HQ of my business here. There's a very robust ecosystem supporting startups.
