After a long and cold spring, it feels as though the warm sunshine may finally be here to stay in Richmond. While technically summer doesn’t start for another month, Memorial Day Weekend often serves as the unofficial start of summer. Pool season kicks off, and nothing goes with pool season like a delicious scoop of locally made ice cream. To celebrate the unofficial start of what we’ll just call ice cream season, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite cool treats to get us through summer in Richmond.

Gelati Celesti, perhaps the OG of the Richmond ice cream scene, isn’t slowing down in 2021! This local favorite is now scooping all over the Greater Richmond area, as well as Virginia Beach. Most recently, their Mechanicsville pop-up, which was offering pints and quarts only, went so well that as of this week guests will be able to purchase individual scoops.
