The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and Richmond is defrosting. Spring is most definitely in the air and we're itching to get back outside and enjoy all that the River City has to offer. Here are five ways we're enjoying spring this year with a little help from local businesses.
Take a Tour
Stretch out those legs and get out of the house with one of Discover Richmond's tours. Whether you're interested in learning about the city's amazing culinary scene or prefer the brewery vibe, Discover Richmond has a tour for you. Alternatively, they also offer scavenger hunts for those looking for a more individual adventure.
Fire Up the Grill
It's grilling season, y'all. Before the heat and humidity set in, now's the perfect time for a good old fashioned cook out. Pick up your favorite cuts of meat from Belmont Butchery and season it with a little help from River City Flame.
Eat and Drink on a Patio
Sure, this year has had a much longer patio season (did it even end?) but nothing comes close to sitting on a patio on a perfect spring day with an ice cold beverage and delicious food. All of Capital Ale House’s locations boast beautiful patios but our personal favorite is the downtown location. Its outdoor Biergarten sits in an enclosed courtyard on the lower level, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Pack a Picnic
Take the party on the road with a little help from Ladles & Linens Kitchen Shoppe. They've got everything you need to stage the perfect picnic from the chicest picnic-friendly plates to cooling cups for your favorite beverages. Swing by Ukrop's Market Hall for some delicious pre-packaged items from their ice box and head to your favorite Richmond park or rock along the James River.
Go for a Ride
Virginia spring days were practically made for bike rides. Enjoy stunning views along the river or soak up the city with a downtown tour when you book one of Basket & Bike's signature tours. Prefer to go it alone? They also offer both classic bike and electric bike rentals.
