As summer winds down, and so does the relentless heat, it’s time to emerge from the air conditioning and get outside for one last hurrah of the season. Here’s our end of summer checklist:
Hang with Nutzy: The last 2019 homestand for the Richmond Flying Squirrels is August 30- September 2 so if you haven’t made it to a game yet, time is running out before Nutzy and Nutasha head into hibernation for winter.
Enjoy a Mobile Happy Hour: Maybe it’s the weather, or perhaps the more relaxed mindset, but for whatever reason, happy hour just seems a million times better during the summer. Make the most of it with the Downtown Booze & Bites moving happy hour by River City Food Tours on Thursdays at 6pm. Spoiler alert: it ends with the best ice cream in Virginia.
Catch a (Free) Outdoor Concert on the Lawn: Pack a picnic and bring a blanket or chairs to Agecroft Hall & Gardens for one last outdoor concert of the season with the Richmond Concert Band on the beautiful lawn, September 22 – the official last day of summer.
Get Your BBQ On: Summer and BBQ go hand in hand and if you haven’t had you’re fill then you better head to the 3rd Annual Circle the Wagons BBQ Competition on August 24 for a day filled with BBQ, beer, music, and more at Green Top Hunt Fish.
Embrace Your Inner Thrillseeker: Time is running out before Kings Dominion* closes the park for the season. Check out the newest coaster, Twisted Timbers, and all of your other favorites before they grind to a stop for the year.
*Open September 8, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29
